Pacers Earn Silver On Invitational Opening Day
The Bermuda Pacers opened the 2026 Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational with one silver medal, three athletes advancing to event finals and two personal best performances at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
Amaya Davis earned Bermuda’s only medal of the opening day, finishing second in the Girls’ 13-14 Triple Jump with a leap of 10.64 metres [34 feet, 11 inches].
Three Bermuda Pacers athletes qualified for the 200 metres finals.
Raelyn Robinson advanced in the Girls’ 8 & Under division after placing third in her preliminary race in 32.82 seconds. Nico Simmons won the Boys’ 9-10 preliminary race in 28.03 to secure his place in the final, while Amara Samuel progressed in the Girls’ 15-16 division after finishing seventh overall in the preliminaries with a time of 25.76.
The Bermuda team also recorded two personal best performances. Skye Furbert ran 31.42 in the Girls’ 9-10 200 metres, while Brianna Lightbourne posted 27.13 in the Girls’ 15-16 event.
Other Bermuda Pacers athletes narrowly missed qualifying for the finals. Jasmine Reid-Rubaine finished ninth in the Girls’ 13-14 200 metres in 26.77, Jadon Lightbourne placed ninth in the Boys’ 13-14 race in 25.11, and Theodore Smith finished 16th in the Boys’ 9-10 division with a time of 30.92.
Competition continues with three Bermuda Pacers athletes set to compete in the 200 metres finals.
