Adult Portuguese Classes Open For Registration
The Portuguese Cultural Association of Bermuda has opened registration for its 2026–27 Adult Portuguese Language Programme.
A spokesperson said, “More information can be found online at portugueseBDA.com. The registration form is here: https://form.jotform.com/262281999494880.
“There will be two levels of classes: A1 and A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages [CEFR]. A1 will be appropriate for absolute beginners while A2 will be appropriate for upper beginners, ie those with some prior exposure to Portuguese.
“Each block of classes will last for 12 weeks. There will be two schedules: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12pm to 12:50pm; and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. The detailed schedule for the year is as follows:
| A1 Beginner |
A2 Upper Beginner |
|
|---|---|---|
| Term 1 | 26 September to 12 December 2026 Saturdays 10am to 1pm |
21 September to 11 December 2026 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 12pm to 12:50pm |
| Term 2 | 18 January to 9 April 2027 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 12pm to 12:50pm |

“A2 is generally the minimum level of Portuguese-language proficiency required for Portuguese nationality applications where proof of knowledge of Portuguese is required.
“Classes will be held in the Portuguese School classroom on the ground floor of the Vasco da Gama building [51 Reid Street, City of Hamilton].
“Registration will be limited to 20 students per block and will be on a first-come-first-served basis. We will maintain a waiting list of those interested to fill spots as individuals withdraw or decline to make payment.
“Access to each individual block comes with a minimum donation of $400 to the PCA, to be paid by the Friday during the first week of each course. We encourage early payment to guarantee your spot.
“However, we are also offering bulk discounts for anyone wishing to guarantee their spots for future courses. If you pay a minimum donation of $650 you will gain access to two [the equivalent of $325 per block].
“Payment of donation can be made by bank transfer: NTB Bank, number, 20006060707516100 [“Portuguese School”]. Please send a picture or PDF of payment confirmation with your name to info@portugueseBDA.com.
“The Adult Programme delivers its classes in accordance with the Quadro de Referência para o Ensino Português no Estrangeiro, which is the official framework for teaching Portuguese as a foreign language, sponsored by Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language, I.P. ["Camões, I.P."]. This is the institution dedicated to the worldwide promotion of the Portuguese language, Portuguese culture, and international aid, on behalf of the Government of Portugal.
“As a registered charity [#385], we critically depend on the generous support of members of the public to keep our programme active. If you are interested in donating, you can do so at any time via our BNTB Bank Account: number, 20006060707516100; name ‘Portuguese School of Bermuda’. Every little bit helps!
“Finally, please note that the Association also offers an early evening programme for school-aged pupils. More information can be found at www.portuguesebda.com. This is a reminder that the deadline for the early-bird rate is this Friday, 21 August 2026.
“If you have any questions about this programme, making a contribution, or for anything else, feel free to get in touch with us at any time via info@portugueseBDA.com.”
