BPS Marks 147th Year With Police Week
The Bermuda Police Service is marking its 147th anniversary with Police Week, recognising its officers, staff, families and community partners.
Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons said, “This week, the Bermuda Police Service marks 147 years of service to this Island. Police Week gives us a chance to pause, take stock of the work being done in our communities every day, and recognise the people who carry it out.
“To the officers, Reserve officers and Support Staff of the BPS, thank you.
“The work is demanding, the hours are long, and much of what you do goes unseen.
“I see the commitment you bring to each shift, and I do not take it for granted. Your wellbeing matters to this organisation, and it matters to me.
“I also want to acknowledge the families who stand behind our officers. Every missed dinner, late call and cancelled weekend is a sacrifice shared at home. Your support makes this service possible, and we are grateful for it.
“During this week we will also remember those who served before us. Their example continues to shape who we are.
“Policing in Bermuda works best as a partnership. I encourage residents to take part in this week’s events, meet the officers who serve their neighbourhoods, and continue working with us to keep Bermuda safe.
Thank you to every member of the Bermuda Police Service, and to the community we are proud to serve.”
