Saltus Senior Win Silver Division Title In Ontario
Saltus Senior Boys won the Silver Division title at the CAIS Senior Boys Soccer Tournament hosted by Trinity College School in Ontario after competing in six matches over three days.
A spokesperson said, “Our Saltus Senior Boys Football Team returned to Bermuda as unbeaten Silver Division Champions after an outstanding performance at the CAIS Senior Boys Soccer Tournament, hosted by Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario!
“Across six matches over three days, our boys demonstrated skill, resilience and determination, overcoming challenging weather and tough opposition to bring home the championship pennant.
“Saltus opened with a draw against Toronto’s Royal St. George’s College before finding their scoring form against St. John’s-Kilmarnock School. Asa T. opened the scoring from a Brayton B. assist, before Brayton added a goal of his own. Curtis J. then found the net from a Dylan P. assist to secure a convincing victory.
“On day two, Chaz E. scored against Rothesay Netherwood School, but a late penalty denied Saltus a place in the Gold Division. Undeterred, the boys turned their focus to the Silver Division, where Chaz scored against West Island College from a Curtis J. assist. A late equalizer sent the match to penalties, but a crucial save from Ethan A. helped Saltus secure a 4–2 shootout victory and progress to the semi-finals!
“Two goals from Chaz E., including one assisted by Curtis J., then propelled Saltus past The York School and into the Silver Division final.
“In a rematch against Royal St. George’s College, Saltus delivered a superb performance to secure a 2–0 victory. Eddie G. broke the deadlock with a brilliant near-post header from a Brayton B. corner, before Xavier H. doubled the lead with a composed finish inside the penalty area to seal the championship!
“Six matches. Three days. An unbeaten record. Silver Division Champions!
“Congratulations to all our players for their outstanding teamwork, perseverance and commitment throughout the tournament. A huge thank you to Ms. Gregorius and Mr. Beard for their guidance and support, and to the Saltus families who cheered the team on from the sidelines. It was also wonderful to see former Head of School Mr. Ted Staunton supporting the boys! Well done Saltus!”
