Video: LaVince Ellis On Motorcycle Racers
Motorcycle racing enthusiast LaVince Ellis has turned a corner of Donington Park into a little piece of Bermuda.
Ellis, who lives in England, once again transformed the Schwantz Curve into the “Bermuda Triangle Corner” at the Leicestershire circuit last weekend as he supported Bermudian riders Aeziah Divine and Jediah Cumbermack.
Inside his tent, Ellis sat on a makeshift chair beside a pole flying Bermuda, Aeziah and Jediah flags, with a sign tied to a railing nearby reading “Bermuda Triangle Corner”.
Divine races for Fibre Tec Honda-MLav Racing in the R&G Moto4 British Cup, while Cumbermack competes for Rokit Rookies in the 1P Mobile National Junior Sportbike Championship.
Both championships run within the British Superbike Championship [BSB] paddock and provide a pathway for young riders developing their careers.
Ellis, who raced in Bermuda from the late 1990s into the early 2000s, has remained a passionate follower of motorcycle racing since moving to England.
The St George’s native was alerted to Divine’s racing by his father, Ephraim, and has since made the Donington corner a meeting point for Bermudians attending the races.
“I’ve had a few guys from Bermuda come down this year to join me in the corner,” Ellis, 54, told Bernews. “It would be great to see some more come down.
“I recommend everyone to come and support these two guys and come and see me.
“It’s amazing to watch two Bermudians compete at this level in the British series.
“Knowing where they’ve come from — racing down at Southside, such a small track compared to the Grand Prix track — it’s great to see.
“We’ve produced some good riders over the years and it’s great to enjoy these two guys representing Bermuda.”
