Police Arrest Cricket Player During Game
Bernews understands that this afternoon [July 3] the Bermuda Police attended the Cup Match trials cricket game at Wellington Oval and arrested a player during a game. Bystanders tell us the Police walked on the field and handcuffed the player literally during play.
We unofficially understand the arrest may be in relation to the armed robbery that occurred in St Georges yesterday.
The armed robbery incident occurred yesterday morning at a residence only yards away from where the arrest today took place. Two men wielding a gun demanded entry to the home, and escaped on foot having stolen money from the residents.
The suspects were described by Police as a dark brown skinned male, approximately 5’8” tall of medium/stocky build wearing a grey hooded top, dark blue jeans and white sneakers; and a dark brown skinned male, approximately 6’ tall of slim build wearing a black hooded top, blue jeans and white sneakers
The game was between St George’s and St David’s and seeks to help determine the players whom will be chosen to represent the East in Cup Match. The 24 year old man arrested plays for St George’s.
Update: The Police have confirmed with us that the man was arrested at the location, providing no further details as of yet. We are expecting an official update with further details from the Police tomorrow.
