October 20, 2011

Condé Nast Traveler magazine has released its annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey, honoring 29 Fairmont hotels and resorts among the world’s best, including The Fairmont Southampton. The resort was recognized in the Top 15 Atlantic Resorts for the third year in a row. Bermuda received top honors among islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic islands.

The annual Condé Nast Traveler survey ranks hotels, resorts, cities and more on a variety of metrics. The results are featured in the November 2011 issue. From more than 8 million votes cast among 28,876 Condé Nast Traveler readers, 24 Fairmont properties returned to the list after being honored last year, while new additions include London’s recently restored The Savoy, thesophisticated Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, The Plaza in New York, and two of Fairmont’s storied California properties: Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows and The Fairmont San Francisco.

“We are honored to be recognized by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine for the third year in a row,” said George Terpilowski, Managing Director Fairmont Bermuda and General Manager of The Fairmont Southampton. “Our placement on this prestigious list is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues at the resort.”

The Fairmont Southampton has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler repeatedly and in numerous categories over the past decade. In 2002 Bermuda’s largest resort was honored as one of The World’s Best Places to Stay. In 2003 The Fairmont Southampton earned a spot on the Magazine’s Gold Reserve List. In 2009 and 2010 The Fairmont Southampton was named among the Top Resorts in The Atlantic. In 2010 it was recognized as one of the Top 80 Golf Resorts in the World.
