Perozzi Wins Middleweight World Title
[Updated] Bermuda’s Teresa Perozzi has added another belt to her collection – winning the WBA Super Middleweight Title and the WBC Silver/Final Elimination Title last night [Dec.30] in Trinidad & Tobago.
Ms Perozzi – whose birthday is today – gave herself the perfect birthday present when she won the WBA Super Middleweight title and WBC Silver/Final Elimination title defeating Trinidad & Tobago’s Lorissa Rivas at the Woodbrook Youth Facility in Tobago.
The 39-year-old Bermudian took on Lorissa Rivas, a 29-year-old Las Vegas-born fighter with Trinidad and Tobago roots, in the feature fight of last night’s Tobago Dark Warriors card at the Woodbrook Youth Facility.

Update #2: After the fight Ms Perozzi said, “The fight was great, she was what I expected and had heard, but you just never know.”
“She really thought she had it but I hurt her in the first round, and she never came forward after that. She tied me up a lot, and I wasn’t able to get off on the inside like I wanted to,” continued Ms. Perozzi.
“I’ll have to work on handling that better, the promoter is talking about a rematch for end of February or beginning of March but we’ll see if she goes for it.”
Ms Perozzi concluded by saying, “I had a lot of obstacles in my way training for this one, so the next one I’m really going to push the training and be confident with my fitness to go all out for 10 rounds if necessary. I felt really good though…but still felt like I had to keep some gas in the tank.”

We wish we did…it was held in Trindad so we obviously couldn’t film it. We are furiously scouring online though, and found the weigh-in clip which we just added…hopefully footage of the fight itself pops up…
It would be great to see the fight. We here in the U.S. searched on the internet for the live stream without success.
