Video: Heather Nova BBC Interview

February 6, 2012

Bermuda singer/songwriter Heather Nova discussed her recent album “300 Days At Sea” — and its inspirational single  “Higher Ground” — during a recent BBC TV appearance.

The Bermudian folk rocker, who has been touring Europe in recent months to promote her latest release, told “BBC Breakfast” viewers how “Higher Ground” was dedicated to American Matt George’s epic work spearheading international disaster relief efforts.

“He was a surfer who turned to saving lives after the tsunami in 2004,” she has said of the humanitarian aid worked. “I was impressed and humbled by what he does and wrote the song as a tribute to him.”

Mr. George worked in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has gone on to serve the United Nations on the front line in the disaster relief efforts after the earthquake in Pakistan, the eruption of Mount Merapi and the Pangandaran tsunami in West Java.

The new album was recorded at Heather Nova’s home recording studio in Bermuda and released last year.

It became a Top 40 hit in five European countries and the first single,  ”Higher Ground”, has received more radio airplay than any Heather Nova song to date
