Woman Arrested For DUI After Accident

A 51-year-old Southampton woman was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after a two car collision in Paget on Friday [Mar.16]

A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:30pm on Friday, March 16th police and first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision on South Road in Paget in the vicinity of the South Round-a-bout. It appears that two cars collided in the area; as a result both vehicles were extensively damaged.

“One female driver was injured and treated at the scene while the other, a 51 year old Southampton woman, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The injured driver was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further medical assessment; however her injuries are not believed to be serious.

“There were no other injuries reported. The Southampton woman was subsequently released on police bail. A court appearance regarding this matter is anticipated in due course.”

    When will people stop drinking and driving. Remember you have family on the road also. If you end up killing one of them, how are you going to feel or someone elses family. Think before you get behind the wheel. Take a taxi home or call someone to come and get you. Better still don’t drink if your going to drive.

    Do insurance companies pay for repairs when the accident is caused by drunk driving?

    If the car is a write off the drunk driver should pay for a new car out of pocket and her insurance should pay for other compensation and time lost from work.
