Lease Signed For Par-la-Ville Hotel Project

April 16, 2012

During a press conference last week held to sign an agreement to lease the Par-la-Ville Car Park to developers who will build a luxury hotel resort and residence, Mayor of Hamilton, Charles Gosling stated, “I am happy to stand here today, on behalf of the City of Hamilton to sign this lease, which will help to ensure that a hotel is built on this site.

“We are pleased to work with Mr. Ted Adams of Unified Resorts to ensure that Hamilton gets a world class hotel. We are delighted to see this project move forward at the end of our term of office. The signing of this agreement and ground lease shows the project has a true potential of being successfully developed.

“This agreement is something my administration has worked to ensure was put in place. The writ filed last year was an attempt to expedite matters and with the signing of the lease today, the writ will be pulled and becomes null and void.”

Mayor Gosling concluded, “The City is happy to see this endeavor move ahead and I thank the Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Wayne Furbert, JP, MP, and his team, for their hard work to help propel this project forward. The City of Hamilton Board finds comfort in the Minister’s comments about holding both parties accountable to specific and stringent timelines.

“Together with assurances that financing is virtually in place, Bermuda is in the process of getting another world class hotel resort. We now look to the future and know this development is an important venture for Bermuda and our tourism product.”

A previous statement from Government said the Par-la-ville Hotel and Residences will be developed under the Starwood flag in Hamilton. It will include 140 guest rooms and suites, and 80 residences. There will also be two restaurants, a spa, wine bar and library.
