Flora Duffy Qualifies For 2012 Olympics

Bermuda’s Flora Duffy has qualified for the 2012 London Olympics after placing sixth in the ITU San Diego Triathlon.

This will mark the second time Duffy has made an Olympics appearance, as she represented the island at the 2008 Olympics held in China.

Duffy came out of the water six seconds behind the eventually winner Helen Jenkins with a time of 18:34. Duffy then recorded the third fastest bike time when she was clocked with a time of 1:04:52. Duffy’s run course time of 35:59 saw her finish sixth overall.

Helen Jenkins from Great Britain clocked a time of 1:58:21, while Erin Densham from Australia finished second with a time 1:59:26. Laura Bennett from the USA finished third clocking a time of 2:00:11, with Jessica Harrison from France finishing fourth with a time of 2:00:14 and Vicky Holland from Great Britain finished fifth with a time of 2:00:28.
