Man Fined $800 For Cannabis Possession

In Magistrates Court this morning [June 15] 23-year-old David Baker of Pembroke pleaded guilty to possessing 1.39 grams of cannabis on 9th March 2012. Mr Barker had been stopped by police during a stop-n-search operation on Friswell’s Road in Pembroke.

The facts read in were that at the time he was stopped, police found two twists containing plant material in his pants pocket. On analysis, this was found to be cannabis. Mr Baker was said to have told police: “It’s just a little weed.”

Speaking for himself, Mr Baker told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner: “I apologize for my action. I’m sorry I had controlled drugs in my possession.”

The Senior Magistrate reviewed Mr Baker’s record and said that this was the third time that he had been convicted, and fined Mr Baker $800.
