Hospital Partially Evacuated After Alarm Goes Off

At approximately 9:45am this morning [Nov 20] the hospital — except for patient wards — was evacuated after the fifth floor fire alarm was activated. There was no actual fire, and staff remained outside for approximately half an hour until the technicians cleared the alarm and reset the system.

A spokesperson said: “BHB confirms that at approximately 9:45am this morning, the fifth floor fire alarm was activated. Security confirmed there was no actual fire but as per our fire safety protocols, all areas of the hospital were evacuated, except for patient wards.

“Staff remained outside in the staging areas for approximately half an hour until the technicians were able to clear the alarm and reset the system. There was minimal service disruption.”
