Masterworks Showcases Valerie Brown

March 21, 2013

Masterworks continues its Artist in the Garden series with a new exhibit of oil paintings of Bermuda by Valerie Brown.

The exhibit’s opening reception will be held tomorrow [Mar. 22] at the Botanical Gardens gallery from 5.30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will run until April 10.

“Val has been working diligently on her collection for the show. The works will focus on Bermuda and and its beauty,” said a Masterworks spokesman.

“She is excited to present this work to the island and the community. Val has exhibited most recently with Masterworks in the Charman Prize 2012, as well as in several other solo shows.”

Ms Brown said when she arrived in Bermuda in 1982 for a career opportunity, she was intrigued and thrilled by the beautiful scenery and colours of the island.

“At that time I was working in business and had little time to devote to my art,” she said. “Happily that situation has changed for the better!

“The last ten years have been a delight for me as I have painted with many professional artists from Bermuda and abroad. I have also painted with many groups of fellow artists and have attended numerous art courses at the Bermuda College.”
