Dame Pamela Addresses Queen’s Graduates

May 25, 2013

Bermuda’s first female Premier Dame Pamela Gordon yesterday [May 24] addressed business school graduates of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario at their convocation ceremony, urging them to keep pace with rapidly changing technology — and never to regret anything which makes them smile.

A 1998 graduate of Queen’s business school, Dame Pamela was in Canada to receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from her alma mater. She also serves on the business school’s consultative global council.

“Life is about choices, so choose well,” she said. “Choose to minimise your regrets, choose to create a legacy of honour and integrity that will make your family proud for generations to come.”

Video footage of Dame Pamela’s address can be seen here.

A United Bermuda Party Member of Parliament for Southampton, Dame Pamela served as Premier between 1997 and 1998 and as Opposition Leader from 1998 until 2001.

Prior to becoming Premier, Dame Pamela also served in UBP Cabinets as Minister of Youth, Sport & Recreation and Environment Minister.
