Ernst & Young Makes Five Staff Redundant

July 24, 2013

Five employees at Ernst & Young — which recently rebranded to EY — have been notified that “they are being separated from the firm,” the company confirmed today [July 24].

An EY spokesperson said, “We can confirm that five employees in our business support operations have been notified that they are being separated from the firm.

“These employee separations are a result of organizational restructuring with a focus to re-skill teams under a more efficient model for continued future growth and success of our business.

“All those affected are being favorably supported with severance as well as medical benefits and out-placement services for a set period. EY remains dedicated to the Bermuda market.”

Earlier today re/insurer Endurance confirmed that they eliminated a “significant number” of positions globally, and while they declined to confirm how many people overall were laid off in the Bermuda office, they did confirm that two Bermudians were affected.

    • Seriously.... says:

Of Course. all of them were Bermudian!

These lot don’t care, and OBA will then tell you the “Economy is Recovering” BS!

      • i think if you read the article only 2 were B’dians, and with good severance packages and benefits……

      • Tommy Chong says:

The economy will never recover as long as we have thousands of foreign workers sending thousands of dollars outside of Bermuda monthly. Money needs to stay on island & circulate for an economy boost. The majority of those who send a huge chunk of their earnings abroad are NOT IB workers. These non IB workers spend less on living expenses than IB workers so its a lose, lose with them. We are assisting in building another countries economy while ours falters. Charity begins at home with your own people Bermuda or else we will become more third world than the third world we keep assisting.

Whoops, whole bunch on lies pre-election and a whole lot of hot air after.

Fear not, Donte, Don, Louise, Dale, Charmaine, Judy, and Nandi. You all are safe, not so sure about all the Bermudians who don’t get OBA consultant contracts.

  5. Ridiculous says:

Some of the staff were there for 25 plus years. Did they get an extra package for such loyalty? Not.

  6. Watching says:

Don’t worry folks, OBA are giving out contracts, ask Andrew brooks how he is doing?

  7. god1st says:
