BIU & Affiliates To Close For Johnston Funeral
The Bermuda Industrial Union Headquarters, the BIU Members Credit Union and the BIU Gas Station will close at 12 noon on Thursday [Jan 23] so that our staff may pay their respects at the home-going service for former president Robert Johnston.
A spokesperson said, “Out of respect for our former president, Brother Robert Johnston, the Bermuda Industrial Union Headquarters, the BIU Members Credit Union and the BIU Gas Station will close at 12 noon on Thursday, January 23, 2014 so that our staff may pay their respects at the home-going service for Brother Johnston which will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m.
“Brother Robert will always stand strong in our memory because of his courageous effort to organize the workers of the Bermuda Electric Light Company on February 2nd 1965.
“The BIU wishes to apologise for any inconvenience these closures may cause to the public.”
