25 Yr Old Woman Given Probation For Threats

May 20, 2014

A 25 year old mother appeared in Magistrates Court today [May 20] where she was given probation after admitting going to another woman’s job and threatening her.

Ms Leslie Dill was sentenced to two years probation, during which she was ordered to abstain from alcohol and illegal drugs, subject herself to random drug testing, accept psychological help and counselling, be assessed by BARC, and participate in all other programs as directed by Probation Services.

This was the decision of Senior Magistrate Archie Warner after he accepted lawyer Elizabeth Christopher’s submission, that as Ms Dill was a vulnerable young woman, and the primary caregiver for two young children and a custodial sentence would not be in her or the public’s best interest.

In January 2014, Ms Dill had pleaded guilty to charges of possessing a bladed article in the form of a kitchen knife; going to another woman’s workplace and there using threatening behaviour; and using threatening words.

Ms Dill was restrained and disarmed by employees who were at the woman’s workplace. The other woman, the complainant, was said to be having a relationship with the father of Ms Dill’s two children.

I suspect it’s the interpretation of the law of Mandatory prison sentences for bladed articles.

        • clearasmud says:

I suspect it refers to the fact that several men have gone to jail for making threats by text and here we have a woman who was restrained from actually carrying out the threat to kill, who was in possession of a weapon, and she gets probation!

Makes you wonder why she was not charged with attempted murder!

  2. duh says:
