Photos: OBA Holds Emergency Meetings

May 19, 2014

Following the ongoing controversy surrounding the JetGate affair, the One Bermuda Alliance held two meetings this past weekend, which saw the OBA MPs, Senators and Executive members huddled inside OBA headquarters on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Party has remained tight-lipped about the meetings, which are understood to be about the JetGate matter. You can view our live blog from Saturday here, our live blog from Sunday here, and all our coverage of JetGate here.

  1. Kim Swan Comments On Cannonier Resignation | Bernews.com | May 20, 2014
  1. Kangoocar says:

I am really getting angry at all politicians in BDA, this is all about one payment going into one account which had two signatories attached to it, why on earth should it take all this time to figure out what the heck happened to the money and why?? We are in a heap of do do, because of the past policies of the plp and the OBA is wasting time on this and keeping everyone in suspense?? The OBA need to come out with it now, and if any wrong doings are exposed, then those responsible need to GO!!!! If this is all about nothing then say it and explain why!!! After the last 8 yrs of terror from the plp, I think it is safe to say, we all have had enough!!!
With that said, if it is all about nothing, then the OBA better learn their lesson about the plp, once and for all, and get on with the investigations of the plp time and scandals and prove once and for all if they were in fact unethical!! We all know very well the plp was incompetent but we need to know if they are hiding stuff themselves!! Our future relies on these answers!!!!!

    • Anon says:

Agreed. Mark Bean (who’s own betting shop has been under investigation) needs to be shut down hard as he’s not doing anything positive for the country other than creating unrest (which I have no doubt it the plan). Everyone seems to have lost the plot as to what we should really be worrying about right now.

People in glass houses should not throw stones that’s for sure!

      • Rhonda Neil says:

Here is what we should be worried about….

        RATINGS RATIONALE

The first key driver for today’s rating action is the significant increase in the sovereign’s debt and interest burdens. Following the issuance of a $750 million global bond in 2013, government debt stands at an estimated 42% in relation to the country’s GDP, up from 28.8% at the end of 2012.

    • Steve Biko says:

Hey IDIOT, you were doing good getting mad at YOUR PARTY then you switched on de P.L.P, this not about P.L.P, this is about O.B.A./ubp, and their f!@#up’s, I know it hurts but deal with it just like P.L.P had to deal with it,(IF YOUR WIFE CHEATED ON YOU AND YOU DIVORCE HER THEN YOU MARRY ANOTHER WOMAN AND SHE CHEATS ON YOU TOO HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BLAME YOUR EX-WIFE ,FOOL) no matter what de out come is we all know one thing for sure is that somebody stepped in s–t and it stinks, and after 18 months of terror and b#lls!#t I think it is safe to say, we all have had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Premier Pinokio says:

It’s not the OBA fault it’s Premier Pinokio. It’s only the OBA’s fault if they continue to trust his long nose.

You know it’s bad when your own voters don’t trust you anymore. He needs to go Bermuda has had enough. Never place a rookie Pilot in the Bermuda JetGate seat.

      • Kangoocar says:

@steve, that is hilarious, you of all people calling someone an idiot?? Unlike you and the rest of the plp sheeple, the typical OBA supporter have no problem lambasting any political party that is, or can be perceived as dishonest!! I am not saying for one second these allegations are true, YET!! What I am angry about is how long it is taking to get the facts!!! If it is deemed the allegations have truth to them, then those involved need to go, period!!! That also goes for anything that comes out concerning your plp!!! Are you brave enough to same the same?? Or are you the idiot????

    • Coffee says:

As for the OBA … The only way to stop organized crime is to elect no one .

    • BETTTY TRUMP says:

Kangoocar, I think your failing to understand the real issue at hand here. I am not sure this is due to your pain that your feeling and it is clouding your judgement to think logically, or your failure to accept that the OBAubp has gone astray.

But the matter is not about what happen to the money. But more so the fact that your Premier and Jetgate 4 LIED on the floor of the House of Parliament.

As a result Kangoocar, “Under the Westminster political system, what is euphemistically termed “misleading parliament” is usually considered a capital offence for those holding Cabinet-level positions.” The Premier has mislead parliament, and now must face the music.

This is the bigger problem. The party is now deadlock in negotiations as they must consider if it is party over country. A few of your MPs are not singing from the same page at present. This deadlock has put the OBAubp in a really tight and most uncomfortable positions.

This situation is not good for the country. But a party that starts of on the wrong foot of lies and deceit often are faced with such a situation sooner rather than later. As I have told you they will fall on their swords sooner than you believe.

      • Kangoocar says:

Betty, I am not miss understanding anything!!! Anyone in any political setting that miss leads the country at anytime needs to go!!! Whether it be OBA or plp!!! How about you for once hold your own party to the same standards that you bleat on about??? BDA is in way too much do do, to tolerate any dishonesty from any politician !!! The time is now to bring all those guilty of anything sinister to justice!!!!!

      • BETTTY TRUMP says:

The downgrading is a big problem. This clearly tells us that the Minister Richards and OBAubp never had a plan to get Bermuda on a better pathway forward. It is not good look at all, regardless of what Mr. Richards is attempting to spin.

        • The downgrading is a BIG problem when trying to attract International Business, you are correct Betty and the longer all of the political turmoil continues the worse it will get.Get your act together OBA you are not showing me anything worth watching!

  2. clearasmud says:

Taking campaign contributions from anyone is no big deal. Intentionally misleading the people and the house is a very big deal. The AG has alo mislead the house on at least two occasions first with his hiring of his personal secratary and again when he said he did not order and investigation into who leaked the information to the opposition. His PS showed the email that confirmed he had asked her to investigate. So if the premier must go, so should the AG.

    • Steve Biko says:

Don’t forget de Tourism Minister too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • West says:

He did 10 years consider it time already served. He gets a free pass on this one.

    • Mike Hind says:

So… Why is this only important now? Why not all the other times it’s happened?

    • AGREED 100% the AG needs to go too along with his secretary asap! If he has misled the house twice he will do it a third time……. au revoir ciao bye bye!!

  3. Rhonda Neil says:

While you were sleep..dreaming of jetgate… Bermuda downgraded…

Is this the same guy who preaches what’s in the past is in the past, like(Slavery and Segregation) and that we have to move on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Legal beagle says:

Just because someone sticks a microphone in your face, you do NOT have to say anything…. The inane ” uh yes I have nothing to say…” And then they ramble on and talk , it’s nonsensical.

  6. nuffin but the truth says:

you all make me laugh at you, when the plp did it,it was ok for you,but as soon as the other side does something, you are like flies on shite!
