UK Govt. On Visa Free Travel In Schengen Area

June 23, 2014

The UK Government has provided some additional information about the recently announced visa free travel for Bermuda passport holders within the Schengen Area, a policy which came into effect on June 9th, 2014.

The Schengen Area currently consists of 26 nations Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

According to the UK Government’s website, the visa concession will also apply to Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Cyprus.

Speaking on logistics, the website said: “On arrival, you may be asked to confirm that you have sufficient funds available for the duration of your stay. You may also be asked to show a return or onward ticket.

“We also recommend that you check the expiration date on your passport carefully before traveling to Europe. Entry into the Schengen Area requires that your passport be valid for at least three months beyond your intended date of departure.

“We recommend that your passport has at least six months of validity whenever you travel abroad to avoid unintended travel disruptions.”

The full advisory from the UK Government, which was published online today, can be read here.

Welcome to the 21st century land of open borders, freedom to travel and work, my Bermuda neighbours.
Apologies in advance if you meet any unwelcoming Daily Mail type attitudes where outsiders as perceived as a threat.
The majority of us embrace multiculturalism and revile the red neck attitudes of the few.
