PLP Comment On New OBA Consultant

September 3, 2014

Following news that former civil servant Magnus Henagulph was hired by the One Bermuda Alliance as a communications consultant, the PLP said, “It is interesting that the civil servant, who won thousands of dollars for throwing his government colleagues under the bus in an error filled submission to the SAGE Commission, has now been hired by Premier Dunkley as a paid author of division for the One Bermuda Alliance.

“It seems that OBA members would rather hide behind paid bloggers and consultants than show their faces, stand in front of the people and speak truthfully.

“Mr. Henagulph in his haste to please his new bosses, penned an editorial attacking Dr. Brown but failed to address the points raised by former Premier. Being unable or unwilling to address legitimate criticism is a recurring pattern with the OBA that their new consultant has seemingly taken to new depths.

“The OBA fails to recognize that their efforts to tarnish the reputations of Bermudians who stand against Premier Dunkley and the OBA’s ant-Bermudians agenda are overshadowed by their lack of transparency and their daily efforts to build a Bermuda that works for everyone but Bermudians.”

So who is the faceless and nameless PLP consultant who drafted the “PLP response”?

    • Hmmm says:

The Nameless Faceless PLP spokesperson is attacking someone who was brave enough to submit what he saw to help Bermuda progress, knowing that there would be backlash. He could have said nothing and had a much easier life, but he stood up to be counted when so many others scurried and hid in corners.

MH Should be recognized on national heros day !!!!

He spoke for a better Bermuda.

    • mj says:

maybe the same faceless person that drafted the oba responce to Dr. Browns speech..

      • Ringmaster says:

Read the response from your party, the PLP. They said the editorial was written by Magnus Henagulph. You really should not be allowed to get near a computer if you are not that smart.

        • BETTTY TRUMP says:

The Fear of the OBAubp is growing daily. It is evident by their recent actions and paid political bloggers.

          • Barracuda says:

            Oh F$## you’re back

            • LickMyChicken says:

I was thinking the same thing. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

              • BETTTY TRUMP says:

The “OBAUBP FRIENDS AND FAMILY PLAN IN FULL SWING”, as I have predicted from day one. FOLKS BE AWARE OF THE POLITICAL STRATEGY OF THE OBA….it speaks volume.

                • LOL (Original TM*) says:

Apprently it’s the same strategy as the PLP to which you speak those same volumes.

                  LOL

                • LOL (Original TM*) says:

Oh and where was that guy the PLP chairman calling for people to stop being nasty and vitrol on the bloggs yet here are the PLP with no knowledge of who wrote this demonizing yet another Bermudian for basically not seeing things the PLP’s way.

                  LOL

          • Um Um Like says:

            Your fear of the OBA?

          • hmmm says:

Betty whilst you were away The PLP became the UBP/PLP

            Please keep up.

    • Creamy says:

Bean can’t say anything. He himself was employed as a paid condultant by E Brown, along with a chief of staff, an office manager, a press secretary, a driver, a coordinator (Bean), a consultant (Rolfe), a full time writer, two Washington lobbyists, and an assistant to the Premier. Ten people.
Cox “economised” and reduced it to nine people.

    • Onion says:

The same nameless, faceless person who writes the PLP blog.

  2. Lois Frederick says:

Correct me if I a wrong, but aren’t all current elected members of the OBA and the people that voted for the OBA Bermudians? Kind of makes a mockery of the PLP’s stance that the OBA are anti Bermudian. Bermuda is just having to face the consequences of decisions made by the former Government and it’s not pretty. What do they imagine would be so much better with the PLP back in power? It certainly wouldn’t all be peaches and cream. We all have to just keep taking the bitter medicine, in time we will all slowly start feeling a little better. The reality is whatever the PLP say they offer different or better, they have very little to offer that would make a significant difference to the average person and the overall economy. The OBA are working hard to turn things around, but it will take time.

    • Gotham says:

I wish you would come home and run for something, you’ve got my vote.

    • LOL (Original TM*) says:

Yes but the PLP is the King and Queen of anti Bermudian remeber they spent 14 years or more now dividing the country playing on history to justify their continued hate as they only see some Bermudians as “real” so what do you expect from someone who condemns what they themselves do.

LOL there is a word for that….

  3. sonso says:

Wow, this is a new PLP low.

    The party is finished!

  4. Barracuda says:

Paid blogger ? please , I gladly do it for fun and for free.

    • sonso says:

Along with the other 99% who donate their time to the cause as well!

    • Onion says:

I’m going to go make a donation to the OBA so I can be a “paying blogger”. Take that PLP talking heads.

  5. Navin Johnson says:

And who is the nameless consultant who writes Marc Bean’s speeches ?

  6. Swing Voter says:

I’m sick of the back and forth of both parties, it’s quite childish. Can’t they just get on with working together to fix Bermuda? Neither party is infallible and either one in power for too long is a bad thing.

  7. WHO CARES says:

Honestly folks—with all the problems that we have—attributable in part to the previous administration and the very good Doctor referred to above–this is what you are going to focus your time and attention on?

    This is comedy right???

    Please do something constructive.

I for one wish MAGNUS the best of luck. There is alot of real news out there to report not this fabricated make a story out of nothing nonsense.

This stuff will be remembered at the polls–keep it up you lot.

  8. Childish says:

Does anyone else see this as a complete waste of airtime.

This has got to be the most childish thing to date.

    Really people focus–focus—we have a multi-billion–I repeat BILLION–dollar deficit.

Surely all of our elected leaders can pull their collective heads out of the political sand and start fixing the problems tthey all created.

Sad that the rest of the world can read this…

    • Greed Killed Bermuda says:

You are aware that if you change your name – to pretend its someone different – the avatar remains the same.

  9. Coffee says:

I guess the civil service code of conduct didn’t apply to the Hemigulp guy ! I mean gee , could you imagine what his pay scale is now ? Which begs the question …. Does he still have to take a furlough day ? Or is he now exempt ?

    • SMH says:

Coffee u r one sick puppy

    • Creamy says:

Can you put together one intelligent thought, or is everything that goes through your mind childish and facile?

    • Come Correct says:

How about you get his f***in name right you union/lazy/unethical/entitled/simple/single minded supporting poor excuse for a REAL f***in Bermudian. How about tomorrow morning you take your coffee and drown yourself while the true Bermudians, the ones that care about their country, make comments that actually have solutions or ideas. Where’s my constructive ideas? You shutting the f*** up is where it starts.

      • Redman says:

        @ Come Correct,

Where’s my constructive ideas? You shutting the f*** up is where it starts.

Ditto, That’s as good a start as a new hotel project lol!!

      • Coffee says:

Dude are you high ! For real lay off the ‘ludes , remember we all can see the stupidity you post when your not in your correct state of mind .. Do better . Now my question stands , will Hemigulp take one furlough day per month as according to the agreements laid out between Govt and the unions ? Fair question .and I don’t expect for CC to show dirty knickers again !

      • JustAskin2 says:

Wow, another nasty individual in these comments. And as usual an OBA affiliate. Nasty and OBA just seem to go together somehow.

        • LOL (Original TM*) says:

In your dreams mate you are one of the nasty bloggers and your pro PLP take your own to task if you want credit if not keep lieing to the public

    • Onion says:

      You remind me of “Bud”.

  10. aceboy says:

He won $2,500. This becomes “thousands”.

How much did we end up paying Commissong for his role as “race consultant”.

    • 32n64w says:

And unlike Commissiong, taxpayers aren’t funding an OBA consultant’s salary. Meanwhile the PLP shifted tens of millions of dollars of our money into the hands of their insider cadre through no bid Givernment contracts and sweetheart consultant gigs. What tangible returns did taxpayers receive in return other than debt?

The PLP’s hypocrisy would be laughable if it wasn’t for the fact their primary goal is to destabilize the country for selfish political gain.

PLP – party before country since 1998 – $2,000,000,000 in debt land growing by the day.

    • Dennis Williams says:

      I thought it was $12,500.00

  11. Rockfish#1and#2 says:

Is the best that the PLP can do? Good thing Bermuda doesn’t have any major problems! Nitpicking at it’s finest.

  12. Redman says:

“It is interesting that the civil servant, who won thousands of dollars for throwing his government colleagues under the bus in an error filled submission to the SAGE Commission,…”

Error filled submission. That’s why the Union and co are so upset, I bet there wasn’t any errors when he described how persons played on their computers all day instead of actually worked… like they are paid by taxpayers to do!! No real comment from the Union on that was there?. Jokers!!

And there’s the rub folks. IMO the Union is more concerned with his whistle blowing on the p*ss poor work ethic/performance of some of their membership than anything that should not have been said in his submission to SAGE.

Why? Because it means that there are grounds for the removal of unneeded staff which means less dues and of course less power for the Unions. It also makes a strong argument for privatization of some Govt Departments which apparently is a no no.

Its a pity that the OBA (and even the PLP if they had remained the Govt) lack the guts to enact some of the SAGE Commissions recommendations, after all they aren’t all based on ‘erroneous’ information now are they?.

    • Ringmaster says:

You are correct. The OBA will be reviled for whatever they do. For that reason they need to do what is right to save Bermuda and ignore the political consequences. As a start:

      1) Any new Government employee has a defined contribution pension. No more defined benefits. Effective NOW
      2) No new hirings. No ifs or buts. If someone leaves there are plenty of other people who can be promoted. If not fire each one until there is someone.
      3) Continue the privatization of Government started by the PLP. There are many services ripe to be privatized and in consequence empower and reward workers. Those who want to work will benefit.

It has already been 18 months since the election. This can’t wait.

      • Creamy says:

        Fully agree.
I’d also suggest they pass a law allowing development of a casino provided it’s part of a hotel with more than 150 rooms.

  13. We Are Not Amused! says:

None of these people would last 5 minutes in another Country as part of any Political Party.

    • Unbelievable says:

      Now THIS is the truth.

Thank you, We Are Not Amused.

    • Build a Better Bermuda says:

Have you never seen some what happens in other parliaments and congresses… I think there are a few here that would fit right into some of those other circuses.

  14. Starting point says:

PLP statement: We most strongly object to this Bermudian getting employment! after careful consideration and research we have noticed that this so called Bermudian does not look like us and thus we object!

LOL the PLP is shrinking their own voting base with every foolish statement they make.

  15. Jeremy Deacon says:

Why do you have to make it personal PLP? And why make it personal when you do not add a name to the statement?
The PLP knows as well as anyone – they have told me – that the OBA need PR. I really hate it when people/organisations are two-faced, but I guess I just have to get used to it.
Good Magnus, you are a top bloke and I’m still waiting for the coffee date.

  16. Ringmaster says:

The nameless PLP release criticizes Magnus for his SAGE Report, yet at the time, Shadow Finance Minister David Burt praised it. How many PLP factions are there? They are clearly unaware of their conflicting opinions.

  17. Rasta says:

    Great appointment!

  18. Scotty says:

Magnus Henagulph highlighted what was currently happening around him by employees being paid by taxpayers money. The result was ” he threw his colleagues under the bus”. Utter nonsense. It was a reality of which he spoke. So much so, no one could defend themselves. This happened under the PLP watch. He is a courageous young man and felt it was important that these situations be highlighted. What happened then was ” we shot the messenger”. We had come so far from integrity, professionalism and doing the right thing that we did not recognize it when we met it head on. Good luck in your new position Mr. Henagulph and please continue to abide by your values and beliefs!

  19. LiarLiar says:

Why doesn’t it suprise me that the PLP is against whistle blowers and transparency regarding how our tax dollars are being wasted in the bloated civil service which is a direct result of the PLP’s mis-management.

This is the same team that had the AG arrested, labeled the current AG as a race traitor and attacked the previous Ombudsman on several occassions.

    • LOL (Original TM*) says:

yet all these highly moral members of the PLP are not taken to task for their nasty comments seems like OBA and their supporters and more importantly BERMUDIANS that don’t agree with the PLP are being held to a higher standard……..

LOL where have I heard that before.
