Photos, Video: USB Drives Donated To Students

November 6, 2014

Pembroke MPs David Burt and Walton Brown presented 200 USB flash drives to Principal Charles Joynes and the students at Northlands Primary School yesterday morning [Nov 5].

In September, Mr. Burt reached out to Principal Joynes to ask if there was any way his local PLP branch could assist the students during the school year. Principal Joynes had an idea that he would like the students to keep a digital journal, where their work would be kept on a USB drive and easily shared with new teachers.

After receiving the request, MP David Burt reached out to fellow MP Walton Brown saying as the school is “on the border of our constituencies so I wanted to make sure MP Walton Brown could be involved.”

Mr. Burt continued, “Our local PLP constituency does a lot to assist the other Primary school in my constituency, West Pembroke, so it is great to be able to assist the students at Northlands.

“We see these kids all the time whether we are canvassing or when we are at home talking with our neighbours. This is Principal Joynes’ second year here, and we are hearing great things about him, so it’s gratifying to be able to help in any way.”

Mr. Brown said, “David and I came together to provide these tools for the school and students, and we’re pleased that we can assist Principal Joynes with his vision. We are always ready to do what we can to assist our young people to achieve success.”

Principal Joynes told his students during the presentation, “As you know, it’s difficult for us to get the funds that we need to do all the things that we think are very important for you. To have people step forward and donate things of this magnitude to our school is amazing and excellent, and we really appreciate that.”

Talk about Premier M.H. Dunkley photo posing. Who are they that are “pumping up their tires” here, by posing for this article if not Mr. David Burt and Mr. Walton Brown? (Yet I do believe what the P.L.P. have done to be somewhat of an asset for the students.)

    • Kunta says:

      And ya problem is?????????????????????????????

    • Robert says:

God Raymond you are such an a**, these are children they are helping, give it a damn rest for once !!!!!!

      • Raymond Ray says:

(Yet I do believe what the P.L.P. have done to be somewhat of an asset for the students.)
I guess you’d overlooked that last sentence?

  2. Justin says:

How do they feel looking into their eyes knowing they are each $100k in debt because of the PLP’s failed policies and mismanagement of the country’s finances? They should have begun by apologizing!

    • Kunta says:

Got proof, maybe they’re trying to warn them that de O.B.A/ubp will outsource their jobs to foreign cheap labor by the time they’re off working age.

      • justin says:

Got proof of what? The country’s debt? If you don’t think it is a fact that we are over $1.7bn in debt then you are delusional.

The OBA is creating jobs for them. The PLP took away jobs as a result of their failed policies such as TERM LIMITS!

It isn’t hard to conclude that Bermuda’s future is far brighter under the OBA than under the PLP.

        • Kunta says:

Ahh Dipstick, how many countries can you name that don’t have debt.

          • Creamy says:

You’re the dipstick. Other countries have debt. The issue is the ability to pay it back. Ask the people in Greece amd Cyprus. Moron.

          • Christopher James says:

There’s just no convincing people Kinta. They just prefer to drown in their ignorance. You clearly fall into that category.

          • Quinte says:

@Kunta, other countries has Debt yes that is true but all countries have raw materials, produce, or manufacture something for export. Remember, we do not manufacture, produce, drill for and export ANYTHING! We have nothing to sell, but a destination to do business or stay on vacation.

The PLP made it difficult for companies to do business here with their term limits, and other rules and public comments. Many moved entirely while most just shifted whole departments to other “friendlier” jurisdictions. Don’t believe me, ask the people working at BNY, Citi, XL and Aon to name a few.

But @Kunta, based on your past comments I must conclude that you like many others will never see or admit that we are in massive debt because of the PLP or that there was $800 million dollars unaccounted for. When a government can not account for $800 million “missing” over 14 years, it can only mean one of two things.

@Kunta if I am wrong, find the money and prove me wrong.

  3. LOL (Original TM*) says:

    So is this buying votes?

    LOL

    • frank says:

how could you say that this is buying votes when these students are not old enough to vote yet.

      • Creamy says:

It’s a photo op. They’re using kids for publicity.

    • Kunta says:

@ LOL, How ignorant can you get, it says Mr. Burt reached out to the school and asked if there is any way they can assist the students during the school year and the Principal suggested it.
You have so much hate against P.L.P that you cant even give credit for a good deed.
      You need help.

  4. Gun Slinger says:

    Brainwashing 101

    • Kunta says:

Lets just hope that when they grow up they don’t get Brainwashed to become Surrogates.

  5. Smh says:

Someone always has something negative to say, if you don’t like it don’t comment. If you aren’t a PLP supporter don’t comment, it’s about doing something good to benefit our children. What’s so bad about that?!?!

  6. Bye election says:

I hope David and Walton told the children that their incompetence( David and Walton’s) has made them indebted to foreign lenders for the rest of their lives and they the children, have to pay it back!
