[Updated] Purvis Primary held their annual Science Fair on Thursday [Feb 26], giving students the chance to show off the science skills that they have picked up during the school year.

Students from Primary 1 to Primary 6 participate in the Science Fair, which challenges the students to solve questions using the scientific method, think like scientists, develop their organizational skills, as well as enhance their writing and oral-presentation skills.

Update 11.04am: A school spokesperson said, “Tuesday, February 24, 2015 was the beginning of Purvis Primary School’s 14th Annual Science Fair. The science fair projects are based on the Cambridge science curriculum, and highlight the students’ scientific knowledge and inquiry skills.

“Every student from Primary 1 to Primary 6 presents their experiment to a panel of judges and answers their questions. The science fair challenges the students to solve questions using the scientific method, think like scientists, develop their organizational skills, enhance their writing skills, and oral-presentation skills.

“This year 61 students achieved blue ribbon status [90%-100%] for their projects. The following five students scored 100% – Amaya Bean, Shamya Taylor-Bhagwan, Davion Carroll, Amaris Munya, and Talitha Pearman.”

Blue Ribbons [90%-100%] included Amaya Bean, Maria DeSa, Cayzie Ford, Tayte Glasgow, Cruz Iris, Sakari Lewis, Jay Rewalt, Michael Smith, Shamya Taylor-Bhagwan, Kiera Trott, Simarie Thorpe, Sahvye Belboda-Smith, Christopher Crumpler Jr., Zane Furbert-Tankard, Aaron King, Chaya Lambert-James, Makayla McMahon, Tylin Norton, Daylen Outerbridge, Tahlon Smith, Arhyiah Tatem, Azaria Atwell, Amaya Husband, Jaya Postlethwaite, Harmony Seymour, Hanok Simons, and Zahra Armstrong.

Additional Blue Ribbons were awarded to Quinton Husband, Nahla Woods, Isma’il Ali, DaMarley Francis, Varshini Srinivasan, Sokiera Mosley-Lee, Aaliyah Muhammad, Zaniea Parson-Simmons, Sophia Pereira, Sachin Derosa, Joao DeSa, Lucas Lightbourne, Ni’Asia Pitcher, Arcedis Rawlins, Azra Shakir, Fasika Simons, Skye Smith, Ermel Martinez, Dachay Paynter-Wade, Troy Wade, La’Naiye Simmons, Seine Young, Caden Minors, Aries Mosely-Lee, Brazil Robinson, Dakahri Bailey, Emily Cabral, Jayden Correia, Eijaz Shakir, Chayse Tanner, Meron Simons, Che’Chulae Dowling, Tranell Nisbett, and Kaori Trott.
