Team BFRS Champions Of The Bermy Chase
On Thursday [May 21], members of the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service participated in the “The Bermy Chase” [a version of the well-known Amazing Race]. The event was held during Emergency Medical Service [EMS] Week, which was hosted by King Edward Memorial Hospital [KEMH].

The event began at 8.30am in the Town of St. George’s and concluded at 4.00pm at the Clock Tower in Dockyard. Team BFRS consisted of: Lieutenant Leonard Davis, Emergency Medical Dispatcher [EMD] Helen Blanche, EMD Kim Clarke [Team Captain], Sergeant Vance Hassell and Lieutenant Mark Taylor.
The course was approximately 22 miles and included 17 different activities, which had to be completed during the duration of the course. The activities included: kayaking, swimming, hiking, planking, pole dancing, karaoke [singing Happy Birthday in Portuguese] abseiling, golfing and various others.
Fire Service spokesperson, Sergeant Jamal Albuoy said, “At the end of the event, Team BFRS was the winning team and as the old adage says: “to the Victor go the spoils”. We are very proud of personnel who gave their time and effort to participate in this fun-filled event. Let’s congratulate Team BFRS for bringing home the trophy!”
