Sentwali Woolridge Wins Gold Medal In Mexico
Bermuda’s Sentwali Woolridge claimed a gold medal in the Pan American Sanda Cup Championships in Mexico, with Reyel Bowen adding to the island’s medal tally with a bronze medal win.
Woolridge went into the Pan American Sanda Cup as the defending champion, and retained his title after defeating Karim Orozco Zazueta from Mexico, with the Bermudian defeating the local favorite 2 rounds to 0.
In his opening match, Woolridge faced Caio Henrique from Brazil and won 2 rounds to 1 after forcing his opponent off the lei tai [platform] twice in the third round.
In the semi-final Woolridge then defeated Yovier Jose Canelon Rodriguez via knockout in the second round.
Reyel Bowen then claimed Bermuda’s second medal of the Championship, winning a bronze medal after he went down 2 rounds to 0 against Daniel Dionicio Madeira from Brazil in the semi-final.
