Taylor Rankin & Dwight Hart To Perform March 29

March 20, 2016

Renowned musician Taylor Rankin, his violin Leroy, and prolific drummer Dwight Hart will be teaming up for a performance at Bermuda College later this month.

The show will take place on Tuesday, March 29 from 6.00pm to 9.00pm, including an interactive discussion in the North Hall Lecture Theatre, followed by a series of four workshops to be held on March 30 and March 31.

A spokesperson said, “Taylor’s eclectic music style will be very familiar to his broad fan base both in Bermuda and overseas. He has recently teamed up with Dwight Hart, and the two are making quite a splash in the music industry, either recording or opening for such iconic greats as Beyonce, Wyclef, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Canadian Tenors, Jazmine Sullivan, Heather Nova and Collie Buddz.

“Rankin’s performances have been described as unique, “ranging from the epic to the sublime, to the dirty, bumping, low-down groovy sounds that only a half-Japanese Bermudian-Canadian can possibly create.”

Coordinator and Senior Lecturer of Marketing Shawn DeShields said, “I wanted them to headline the Spring Lecture Series, to inspire potential local musicians with stories of their world travels and life musical experiences.

“It’s not too often that music students and others interested in music get the opportunity to hear and network with such respected musical talents. Taylor and Dwight have performed all over the world, and as Bermudians, they have a strong desire to give back to their country. And both are just as excited to come as we are to have them.

“Taylor is anticipating being on the College campus and sharing and interacting with our students and the community.

“We’re really hyped about it and invite people to sign up early.”

“There will be a free and interactive performance. Attendees can learn about what motivates the two performers, and the significant people in their lives who encourage them to be the best at what they do; the sacrifices each had to make while honing their respective musical crafts; and how music is consistently transforming performance and production, with new developments in technology.”
