80 Minute Video: Interview With Dr Ewart Brown
[Updated] Dr Ewart Brown will be speaking with Bernews this afternoon [Jan 22], sitting down for a live interview with journalist Jeremy Deacon, where they plan to discuss a number of topics, including the comments Dr Brown made at last week’s press conference, when he spoke about the closure of the CT Scan Unit at Brown-Darrell Clinic, which he attributed to “severe reductions in payments by the Bermuda Health Council.”
Zane DeSilva was present at that press conference, and last night it was announced that he had resigned from Cabinet, and “expressed the conflict he faces by a set of circumstances this new government inherited; specifically, the decision made by the former government to significantly reduce the fees paid for MRI and CT scans in Bermuda and the new Government’s actions to mitigate the impact of those fee reductions without increasing health insurance costs.”
Mr Deacon plans to ask a number of questions about the recent develoments, and the video will be added in this post below, and you can also watch live on Bernews Facebook page; we plan to start at approximately 2.00pm.
Update 3.45pm: The live interview has ended, and the replay is below, topics discussed included the closure of the CT scan, the Health Council, Lahey lawsuit, Commission of Inquiry, the police investigation, politics in general, same sex marriage and more. The audio has issues in the very beginning, we do apologize for this, however it improves significantly a few minutes into the interview. We will work on posting transcripts/extracts of some of the interview, and we will post those as able, and in the meantime the 80-minute video is below.
If you want to listen ‘on the go’, you can also access the audio only version of this interview, and all our past interviews, in the podcast section of the Bernews app.
It looks like the power struggle within the PLP is now becoming public
Seriously
There is no power struggle. You oba/UBPer will say anything to help the 12 seats the PEOPLE left you. Now I understand why you lost so bad at the election.
your ignorance is astounding. now I understand how the new group got voted in.
That’s not what Bean thinks…carry on *sips tea while the PLP implodes*
There is a struggle and you know it. That is why Burt is never on de island he don’t want to hear all the crying.
Very interesting interview.
I know this was about Dr.Brown and his party, but would have been interesting to see how de reporter felt about JetGate, Water Front, Wealthy overseas sponsors in de 2012 election but I guess we’ll hope he does an interview with Canonair.
I may not agree a lot with Doc, but he held his own.
There was no Jet Gate, anyone would have cancelled that waterfront proposal lmfao and wealthy sponsors are free to donate to whom they choose. Ask the PLP/Preserve Marriage who their main sponsors are…I’ll wait it’s juicy
I am sure “doc” is distraught that you do not agree a lot with him. Held his own what?
This should be interesting…will it be a one on one interview or will he bring his entourage?
LOL, maybe not the professional head shakers, but he should bring the background choir of mmhmm and nnhnn’ers!!
Dem one an de same
Why? Why?
Don’t care to hear about him again.
But yet you click on this story and head to the comments section, I swear some types in Bermuda are obsessed with this man..
Like Trump is about Obama.
How come who keep bringing up Trump/Obama? We are in Bermuda and have our own issues to deal with trying to equate the ignorance of Trump to Bermuda seems pretty stupid don’t you think? You are a very one dimensional person I suspect.
Fire extinguisher, violin and pop corn ready.
More EB rhetoric! He won’t stop until he has it his way!
This, dis, this, is worth MILLIONS to d Doc… what u all think?
Please ask him where our money went
No one that matters cares about you Ewart Brown!
And quote “Zane is a special person” EB LMFAO Something is really fishy here.
Just go away
Wonder if they’ll open u0 the port Royal and Lahey cases now.. #hmmmmm
nice interview very smart man. so sad he had to go though the things he went through. i did not agree with his American style of doing things but his heart was in the right place. if he did not have to go through so much of this type of crap throughout his life he could have done much more for Bermuda. i am happy for what he has done.
Zane Desilva’s loyalty towards Ewart Brown is greater than his loyalty to his constituents. Amazing!!!
He is lifetime President of the Bermuda Boo Hoo Club. Whatever his misfortune he is never responsible for it. Always somebody else. Always some mysterious group that is out to get him.
Typical conservative to be honest.
De silva resigns. Hmm who next to join Brown. Sorry snap election needed.
Suck it up, you lot messed up!! OUCH
Did u ask him about the cedars beams?
Poor Doc and all his riches. Life sure has treated him so bad………. yeah right….he made millions
The hypocrasay is astounding… rubbishes the AC report because Cross Island not included but then claims the Grand slam only cost a couple million? By the same standard surely you must include the 24.5m renovation of Port Royal (20m of which was not budgeted for)?
Well done Dr.Brown you laid your side of the story on the table but than most Bermudians know the deal; that ‘s why we saw the political verdict of July 18th.
I am convince that never again will Bermudians accept being a political minority in their country. That’s why Dr.Brown retains respect in this country because he understand the soul of Bermuda something his political detractors will never understand.
It touch my heart when he said he dose not care about his damaged reputation in Bermuda because his is not interested in getting even he is more interested in fixing the problem so that he dose not happen to the young and upcoming.
May he live for a very long time to continue to protect the young.
This has changed me for the better. Because something similar has happen to me. and ever since it happen I have been too focused on how I can get back at them who did me wrong. Instead after watching this interview for the 2nd time I will focus preventing it from happening to another black men and provide support once I rebound.
I should haven been able to to come to this concussion without this interview because I follow the Bible but some time this happen that light a fire in your heart and that fire blinds you. Thank very much Doc and Jeremy for this interview.
