Bermuda Split On Day One CAC Squash Team

The Team Squash Tournament got underway at the CAC Games in Colombia.

Bermuda would play in two games, they would defeat Barbados 3 – 0 in their first match, but they would fall to Mexico 2 – 1 in games two.

Micah Franklin got things started when he defeated Khamal Cumberbatch in straight games 11-4, 11-8, 11-4 in a 29 minute battle.

Noah Browne would then take on Shawn Simpson winning 3-1, Browne won the first game 11-9, but Simpson would level the match at 1-1, when he won the second game 11-9, but Browne would go back in front winning the third game 11-3, before closing out the match 11-1.

Nick Kyme would then take to the court and he would defeat Rhett Cumberbatch in straight games 11-3, 11-9, 11-2.

In the match against Mexico, their number one player forfeited his match nursing an injury thus giving Bermuda a 1-0 lead, the match would be level at 1-1 when Alfredo Vergara defeated Franklin in straight games 11-8, 11-3, 11-6, Franklin was injured in game two, but continued before receiving treatment.

Browne would take on Arturo Martinez and the pair battled for 40 minutes with the Mexican winning 3-1, Martinez would win the opening game 11-8, but Browne would level the match at 1 – 1 when he won the second game 14-12. Martinez would defeat Browne 11-9 in the third game and then closed it out with a fourth game 11-9 win.
