Two People Arrested Following Separate Crashes

A 45-year-old Pembroke man was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving, while a 63-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following two separate collisions yesterday [Sept 3].

Reported Three Vehicle Collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire

A police spokesperson said, “Around 5:50pm Tuesday, September 3rd a reported three vehicle collision occurred in the North Shore Road, Barkers Hill Devonshire area.

“It appears that a car was being driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road followed by a motorcyclist – and another car was being driven in the opposite direction when the collision occurred in the vicinity of Loyal Hill.

“Apparently each car had a driver plus a passenger and all were hurt, as well as the motorcyclist.

“They were all transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

“However, none of their injuries are believed to be life threatening.

“The driver of the westbound car, said to be a 45-year-old Pembroke man, was later arrested on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving.

“Traffic diversions were in place until the scene was processed and the damaged vehicles were removed.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are still asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Reported Two Car Collision on Middle Road in Devonshire

“Around 6:20pm Tuesday, September 3rd police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported two car collision on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Chaingate Hill.

“It appears that one car was being driven along the westbound lane of Middle Road and the other car involved was being driven in the opposite direction when the collision occurred in the vicinity of Somersfield Academy.

“Apparently the collision caused the westbound vehicle to overturn and end up on its side.

“However, it is understood there were no reported injuries.

“The driver of the westbound car, said to be a 63-year-old Southampton man, was later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

“Traffic diversions were in place until the scene was processed and the two damaged vehicles towed away.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are still asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
