Photos & Video: Round The Sound Swim Racing

[Updated with video] The 2019 Round the Sound Swim took place today [Oct 13] comprising of four races of different distances. Jake Mason and Jacqueline Fasano were crowned the male and female 10K champions, while Edouard Von Herberstein and Marissa Dressel are the male and female 4K champions.

Jack Harvey and Taylor White are the 2K champions while Brandon Adkins and Marleigh Howes won the title of male and female champions of the 0.8K distance race.

The event is fully contained within Harrington Sound, with the longest distance [10km] constituting a full circumnavigation of the Sound. Distances raced are 10k, 4k, 2k, 800m, with the various distances starting at staggered intervals to result in a consistent finishing time at the Bermuda Aquarium for all distances.

Fifteen year old Jake Mason broke the 10K distance record held previously by four time winner Erik Soria. Mason crossed the line in a time of 2:11:45 while Soria placed second clocking 2:21:00. Bob Tarr rounded off the top three males in a time of 2:21:59.

Jacqueline Fasano was the first female across the line clocking 2:30:59, placing fifth overall. Kasey Brough was the second female finisher and 8th overall with a time of 2:38:21 while Denise Hui Bon Hoa was the third female and 15th overall with a time of 2:44:40.

At the 4K distance, Edouard Von Herberstein was clocked across the line in a time of 56:52:00 while the second male finisher, Samuel Wollner was third overall and clocked 59:53:00. Justin Edmunds was the third male finisher and 4th overall with a time of 1:00:11.

The first female, Marissa Dressel was second overall with a time of 57:16:00. Claire Singley was the second female finisher crossing the line 5th overall with a time of 1:01:34 while Frances Stephenson was the third female finisher and 7th overall with a time of 1:02:26.

Jack Harvey clocked a winning 2K distance time of 25:02:00. Kevin Insley was the second male finisher and 4th overall with a time of 27:21:00 while the third male finisher, Robert Landriault placed 7th overall with a time of 28:15:00.

Taylor White was second overall with a time of 25:27:00. Tayla Horan was second female finisher and third overall with a time of 26:48:00 while Erin McIntyre was the third female finisher and 5th overall with a time of 27:25:00.

Brandon Adkins won the 0.8K Distance crossing the line in a time of 11:05. Zenji Damani was the second male and third overall with a time of 12:41 and the third male finisher Joseph Vallis, finished 5th overall with a time of 13:10.

First female crossing the line was Marleigh Howes placing 2nd overall in a time of 12:30. Caitlin Coleman was the second female finisher and 4th overall with a time of 12:51 while A. Pedro was the third female finisher and 8th overall with a time of 13:52.

    Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated! This is an amazing annual fundraising event that has grown in popularity over the years with swimmers coming from all over the USA, Canada, and the UK to join local swimmers. Swimmers are all ages, too…from primary school age to 87!
