[Updated] Two members of the Bermuda Police Service have been suspended as part of an ongoing investigation, according to police officials.

A police spokesperson said, “Two members of the Bermuda Police Service have been suspended from duty as part of an ongoing investigation”.

“No further information will be provided at this time, so as not to impede the progress of the investigation.”

Update: Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley said, “As you are aware, two police officers have been arrested and suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

“Details of that investigation cannot be revealed at this time, as the matter may go before the courts.

“That notwithstanding, I note that any person subject of a criminal allegation is entitled to defend themselves accordingly and they are innocent until proven otherwise.

“However, as a police service we must uphold the highest standards of integrity and deal with such matters in the same way we would with the public.

“I also highlight our code of ethics and standards of professional behaviour apply to all of us, both on and off duty.”
