Fairmont Opens Applications For 500+ Jobs
Fairmont Southampton has launched what they said was the “largest recruitment campaign in its history, opening applications for more than 500 roles across nine departments” as the resort prepares for its full reopening.
A spokesperson said, “Fairmont Southampton today launched the largest recruitment campaign in its history, opening applications for more than 500 roles across nine departments as the resort advances toward its much anticipated full reopening. The campaign marks the next major step in Fairmont Southampton’s phased return, as the focus remains on completing the renovation of the resort and building the team that will bring it back to life.
“This dedicated recruitment drive represents the next major expansion of Fairmont Southampton’s workforce, with opportunities spanning operational, technical and corporate functions, from: Rooms, Food & Beverage and Engineering to Golf, Leisure & Recreation, Finance, IT, Sales & Marketing, Reservations and Events.
“To date, over 170 colleagues have been employed, working across multiple functions at Fairmont Southampton in support of the resort’s return, with that growing workforce expanding most recently to support Palmetto Beach Club, which successfully opened this summer as the first guest-facing phase of the transformed resort’s reopening. Nearly 60% of the Palmetto Beach Club workforce is Bermudian, demonstrating Fairmont Southampton’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for local talent and setting the foundation for that commitment to continue as recruitment expands across the wider resort.”
“As we work toward building a robust team of 700 colleagues for the fully reopened Fairmont Southampton, the more than 500 vacancies we are launching today represents an extraordinary next step,” said Donna Harvey-Maybury, Director of People & Culture. “This campaign is about much more than numbers. It’s about creating meaningful careers, developing future leaders and building a team that truly reflects Bermuda. Whether someone is returning to hospitality, entering the industry for the first time or bringing experience gained overseas back home, we want Bermudians to see the breadth of opportunity available to them at Fairmont Southampton.”
A Commitment To Bermudian Talent
The spokesperson said, “At the heart of Fairmont Southampton’s recruitment strategy is a commitment to attracting, developing and creating pathways for Bermudian talent across all levels of the resort – including encouraging Bermudians living overseas to consider bringing their experience home.”
“We are passionate about attracting and developing Bermuda leadership talent and are so proud of the Bermudians we have engaged to return from their international experiences to contribute to the success of the Palmetto Beach Club,” said Kiaran MacDonald, Regional Vice President and General Manager.
“These recently recruited executives include Aaron Phillips, Director of Marketing, Sarai Belboda, Director of Talent and Acquisition, Brooke Caisey, who heads up the Recreation team, and Cory DeSilva, Manager of Resort Membership, each of which brings a wealth of global experience with a firm knowledge and understanding of Bermuda, which is invaluable to our resort.”
For Sarai Belboda, Director of Talent & Acquisition, that effort carries particular significance. Having made the decision herself to return to Bermuda after building her career overseas. She said, “I know firsthand what it means to make the decision to return to Bermuda and bring the experience you have gained overseas home with you,” As we rebuild Fairmont Southampton, we have an opportunity to create meaningful career pathways for Bermudians at every stage – from those beginning their careers here at home to those considering bringing their international experience back to Bermuda. We want people to see the scale of what is taking shape and, importantly, to see themselves as part of it”
The spokesperson said, “Marlena Ortega, Sales & Marketing Support Executive, is one early example of that opportunity in action. After attending Fairmont Southampton’s UK engagement event at The Savoy earlier this year whilst living overseas, she has since returned to Bermuda and joined the resort’s Sales & Marketing team. An early example of the type of connection the resort hopes to create with Bermudians considering opportunities back home.
“This wider recruitment strategy is also supported by a dedicated ‘Fairmont Southampton Faces’ campaign, an ongoing employer-brand series introducing the people at the heart of Fairmont Southampton’s return. Featured across digital channels, social platforms and in print, the series will spotlight colleagues from across the property, sharing their career journeys, the paths that brought them to Fairmont Southampton, as well as outlining what being part of the resort’s next chapter means to them.
“With successive phases of the resort’s magnificent restoration, Fairmont Southampton is on track to grow its team to approximately 700 professionals. This expansion solidifies the resort’s status as a cornerstone of Bermuda’s tourism economy, creating high-value career opportunities across a wide spectrum of specialized fields.

A Landmark Transformation
“The bolstered recruitment campaign represents the next major public milestone in Fairmont Southampton’s transformation, backed by an investment in excess of US $550 million, reaffirming the property’s position as one of Bermuda’s most significant hospitality destinations.
“Delivered through the partnership between Gencom, Accor and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with the Government of Bermuda, the transformation reflects a shared commitment to restoring one of the island’s most significant hospitality landmarks while creating long-term opportunities for Bermuda’s tourism workforce and economy.
“Upon reopening, Fairmont Southampton will feature 593 redesigned guestrooms and suites, a collection of new and reimagined restaurants and bars, enhanced wellness facilities, refreshed meeting and event spaces, Turtle Hill Golf Club and an expanded portfolio of guest experiences for both international visitors and the local community.
“The resort’s return began taking visible shape this summer with the successful opening of Palmetto Beach Club, the first guest-facing phase of the transformed Fairmont Southampton.

When will employment commence please?
Trusting they are hiring employees formerly with them and young Bermudians before the overseas applicants
They can only hire from who applies, and work permit rules always state that qualified bermudians come before overseas applicants.
SO happy to see this project progressing…even though some of us didn’t want it to.
Can you kindly name one person who was against the re-opening of the hotel ?
And don’t confuse opposition to the concretizing of the golf course with condos and the hotel.
there were definitely some very public ones who opposed the financing of the deal, without which we would not be here today.
So in your mind you confuse the awful concessions (with very justified criticism) given to Maybury and crew with the support for the re-opening of the hotel ? LOL
Again , nobody is against the re-opening of the hotel !
“there were definitely some very public ones”
There were many sources, good sources, very good sources. They told me …
Interesting, no IT jobs are listed that I can find on the careers page.
