Team Hayward distributed appreciation bags to teachers and support staff across Bermuda’s public schools as part of an island-wide giveback initiative.
A spokesperson said, “More than 950 teachers and support staff across Bermuda’s public schools received appreciation bags today as part of an island-wide giveback initiative led by Team Hayward.
“The initiative was a simple but meaningful way to recognise the educators and support staff who dedicate themselves each day to Bermuda’s children and contribute to creating positive, supportive environments in schools across the Island.
“As part of the initiative, Minister Hayward visited Dellwood Middle School this morning to personally deliver bags and spend time thanking members of the school community.”
When asked why he felt this initiative was important, Minister Hayward said, “As a parent, I see firsthand the time, care and commitment that educators and school staff pour into our children. We often speak about the importance of education and the success of our young people, but we must also recognise the people who show up every day to help make that success possible.”
The spokesperson said, “More than 950 appreciation bags were distributed to teachers and support staff at every public school across Bermuda, ensuring that the initiative extended beyond the classroom to recognise the many individuals who contribute to the daily operation and success of Bermuda’s schools.”
Minister Hayward added: “This is simply our way of saying thank you. Whether you are teaching in the classroom, supporting students, maintaining our schools or contributing behind the scenes, you are part of the village that helps our young people succeed.”
The spokesperson said, “The teacher and staff appreciation initiative follows Team Hayward’s Back-to-School Community Event on August 30, which brought families together ahead of the new school year and provided support to students and parents.”
Minister Hayward said the initiatives reflect a broader belief that strengthening education requires the involvement and support of the entire community.
“Education is one of the most important investments we can make in Bermuda’s future. That means supporting our students, but it also means valuing the people who educate, encourage and care for them every day.”
He concluded: “To every teacher and member of staff beginning another school year, thank you for what you do for our children and for Bermuda. I wish you and your students a successful and rewarding year ahead.”
