Dock Jumping Accident: 17 Yr Old in ICU

bermuda rocks waterPolice responded to a report of an incident at Riddle’s Bay Docks Southampton at 5:23pm today (June 25), saying that it appears that a group of young people were diving off the Riddle’s Bay Docks, when a 17 year old man “ran a distance and jumped off of the docks and as a result he struck his head on some rocks”.

He sustained injuries including a “deep gash to his forehead, a split nose, a spit lip and several lacerations to his upper body” and was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital. The victim is presently in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition. A police investigation into this incident is underway.

Update June 27: The teenager is actually 17, not 19 as Police initially reported, and as of today is expected to be moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a general ward.
