I’m a little depressed folks. Let me introduce myself, My name is Tim, I live in the U.S. and have cruised to your BEAUTIFUL Island twice. We are planning to come back in 2011. I remember the first time I cruised to Bermuda. It was on the S.S. Meridian and we docked in Kings Warf. We rented scooters and while driving the island, were met by islanders going in the other direction waving at us as though to welcome us. In ALL of the past cruises we have done, we have NEVER felt so welcome. I have recently signed up on BerNews and becoming concerned with the reports of the crime you are experiencing in what I see as paradise. I guess crime happens everywhere but it seems the extent of it in your country is becoming bad. But trust me, and trust US..I will NEVER steer away from your georgous country :) I know many of you look down on tourists (especially cruisers), but those of us that have been to visit before, respect and admire your country. I look forward to seeing you soon!!!

Nobody looks down on tourists. I don’t know what could have given you that impression.

Sorry D, I was in Hamilton one day (Visiting on the then Norwegian “Dreamward”) when I overheard a woman complaining to her friend on the phone how she was late to work because of all the &^%& tourists. She went on to say “this is gettin’ out of control. They don’t know where their going or how to drive scooters!! I’m not gonna lose my job because of them”. Maybe using the word “many” in my statement was a bit misdirected for which I apologize :) . But as you can see from my last sentence, it doesn’t change my mind about wanting to come back and visiting you wonderful Bermudians!! Be well, hopefully next year I’ll be back :)
