It must be way past time to privatize the ferry operation, the buses & trash collection like it is done elsewhere. Put the services out to tender for 5 year contracts. I’ll bet all of those services can be done at far less cost to Government, Us, & will be done with far fewer disruptions.

Let me see. Could it be that someone has been dismissed or put on suspension for the Bermudiana going “onna de rocks” and all his co-workers are jumping up and down and wanting a day off to talk about it and defend the incompetent? It was an embarassment to Marine and Ports and they tried to make an example of someone and this is what happens. Now the taxpayers are ganked again because they have no transport on the ferries. Me thinks. Get it together BDA!

The Warwick-Paget ferries seem to be running this morning

  4. Left stranded!!! says:

I hope this is to due with the fact that there are one or more fast ferries needing repairs and instead of fixing them, the Watford and Cavello commuters have been reduced to one of the older and SLOW ferries. For the past 2 weeks these commuters have been getting to work late!! Hopefully something positive comes out from this!!!

    • watching from the dock says:

I am one of the commuters from Watford and we have always been treated very unfairly. For the past two weeks, we have been late to work because they send the old slow ferry. This is largely because marine and ports has 4 boats that should be available for use on this route. However, at any given time only one of these boats work. And the one that works is running on one engine. Every day when we enter two rock passage, passengers hear three beeps. As a boater, i recognize that sound as the overheating signal. Government refuses to train the staff to maintain and fix the boats. Instead, they wait for the boats to break down. It is ridiculous that they employ so many men (that are all willing to learn how to fix the boats) just to say good day to commuters and to tie the boat when it docks. Something must be done about this. The Ferry workers must take the brunt of peoples complaints and we all know they have no power to change a thing. Let’s get it together. Let’s train the staff to maintain the boats, set up maintenance schedules for the boats, utilize the boats that we have and properly use our tax dollars!
