Footballer Nahki Wells Lands Carlisle Trial
Carlisle United will give Bermudian footballer Nahki Wells an extended trial this month after the striker impressed in a one-off first-team session.
Mr Wells is currently a student at the International Academic and Soccer Academy in West Yorkshire. While playing locally for Dandy Town, he was the leading goalscorer in Bermuda’s Premier League.
Manager Greg Abbott said “We have kept tabs on him and we invited him up here last Monday, and he had an excellent session with is.”
“The plan is to get him back up here before the festive period starts and have another look, because he did very well in his first session. He’s bright, he’s lively, and he can definitely use the ball, so we’re looking forward to working with him again.”
Carlisle United is based in Carlisle, Cumbria, where they play at the Brunton Park Stadium and currently compete in League One, the third tier of the English football league system. The club has reached the final of the Football League Trophy 5 times, more than any other team, and won the title in 1997.
The UK’s BBC reported that “Wells is also believed to be attracting interest from Championship clubs Hull City and Ipswich Town,” while the News and Star said “The former Dandy Town hitman has attracted interest from Ipswich Town and Hull City.”
