Arrest For DUI After Driving into Ditch

A 38-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning (Dec 20) after driving his car into a ditch and subsequently failing the alco analyzer test.

Police responded to a report of a minor single vehicle accident that took place at 6:10am yesterday on North Shore Road about 100 meters east of Coney Island.

A Police spokesman said that “It appears that a car was traveling on the said road when the driver lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a ditch. As a result the 38 year old man was taken to the police station, were he was breathalized. The 38 year old man failed the test and was processed and detained.”

Over the weekend eight persons were arrested for drinking and driving, and a Police spokesman said officers “are reminding the motoring public that drinking and driving is crime and punishable under the law. If you must drink get a designated driver. Police will be vigilant over the holiday period and offenders will be put before the courts.”

    Terry, rather than making it a criminal offense, I it should be required that all people convicted of DUI be required to complete an achohol couselling course.
