Photos: Housefire On St Monica’s Road
[Updated] Smoke poured into the air this morning [Dec 14] in the St Monica’s Road, Pembroke area after a house caught on fire at approximately 10am..
The Bermuda Fire Service responded with at least three fire vehicles, and a number of personnel. It is unclear at this time whether anyone was injured, however area residents told us they believe that no one presently lives in the property. We will update with official information as able.
Update 11:55pm: Official information from the Bermuda Fire Service:
Received call at 9:56 am of a fire at #1 St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke. Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded with 3 fire appliances and I support vehicle and 11 personnel.
First fire appliance arrived on scene at 10:01 to find smoke and fire issuing from a single story dwelling. 2 fire fighters in breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes.
The fire appeared to have started in a bedroom closet. There were no injuries reported as the house has been unoccupied for a couple of months. The incident is being investigated however; it is our understanding that the house is to be demolished soon.
