Photos & Video: Boat Fire in St George’s
[Updated] The Bermuda Fire Service and Marine Police responded to a boat fire in Mullet Bay, St George’s at approximately 11:30am today [Dec 11].
The boat was a few feet offshore with smoke pouring when firefighters arrived:
Two fire trucks responded and quickly extinguished the fire on the 28ft Century Cabin Cruiser ‘Love Affair’:
The Marine Police also responded, and although the boat sustained damage, fortunately no one was injured:
An unconfirmed report says the boat was approximately 15ft off shoreline when incident occurred, and the engine was left running when the operator disembarked. Bernews understands that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The Fire Service examined the boat to ensure that the fire was completely out:

Update Dec 12: Official statement from the Police: “Around 11am on Saturday, Police including Police vessel Rescue 1 with officers from the Marine Unit as well as Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to a report of a boat on fire in Mullet Bay, St. George’s. The fire was extinguished by firefighters at the scene. The boat was extensively damaged; however no one was injured. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
