Pedestrian Injured in Devil’s Hole Collision
Around noon on Saturday [Jan 29], a car was traveling along South Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Devil’s Hole Hill collided with a female who was walking along the road. She was injured and taken to hospital for treatment, however her injuries are not believed to be serious.
A Police spokesman said: “Around 12 noon on Saturday, Police attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after receiving a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury involving a car and a pedestrian.”
“It appears that the car was traveling along South Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Devil’s Hole Hill when a collision occurred with the pedestrian, a 42 year old Sandys parish woman. She was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. The victim’s injuries are not believed to be serious. The driver of the car was not injured.”

That’s a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, Charles. Wouldn’t it first be wise to find out more about the circumstances of the incident first? It’s entirely possible that the pedestrian is at fault in these kind of situations. Just saying. Such strong feelings and reactions may also be better focussed on making the roads safer for pedestrians – most of the roadways on the island are simply not suited for both vehicles and pedestrians to exist safely together.
