Denton Hurdle Memorial Match Scores

Today [Feb 6] the Denton Hurdle Rugby Memorial matches were held at National Stadium, with Teachers RFC playing the pick of the other rugby clubs on the island.

Rugby Bermuda Feb 6th 2011-1-3

The match is held in memory of rugby great Denton Hurdle, who passed away in 1985 due to complications from a heart condition. At the time of his untimely death Mr Hurdle was only 28 years old, and Captain of Teachers RFC and the Bermuda National Team. The Hurdle family continues to be known for their rugby participation to this day.

Game 1:
Teachers Under 16′s defeated Renegades Under 16′s 26-5, with scores from Daniel Nash (2), Ndaveyh Williams and Josh Durrant. Tag O’Shaunessy with the black and whites response.

Game 2:
The rest ladies 2nd’s beat Teachers Ladies 2nd’s 3-0 with scores from Orla Joyce (2) and Roseanna Irish.

Game 3:
Teachers 2nd’s men defeated The Rest 36-7.

Game 4:
The Rest ladies defeated Teachers ladies 3-1 with scores from Melanie Frichone Deuche, Nicky Jones and Mikapedia Tomita. Teachers response from Katie Wright.

Game 5:
The Rest defeated Teachers mens 30-12. Scorers for the rest were Rich Brown, Durnferd Davis (2), Tom Healy (2). Tommy Edwards with the remainder with the boot. Teachers tries from Chris Landey and David Cooke.
