WHY DOESN’T THE POLICE DO THESE EXCERSISES TO CATCH CHAIN SNATCHERS AND PETTY THIEVES???

    • DARRIN DIZZLE says:

The police were up the road playing Xbox! Why are all the cars always parked? They should be out walking or cruising instead of waiting for a call that they take their time getting to! They need to fire everybody and bring in people from the States to run the BP. PATROL! PATROL! PATROL! SMH!

      • Scott says:

walking randomly at maximart whne something happened? come be serious..i agree they should be more visual, but even if every cop was walking/patrolling the island by themselves all at the same time there would still be places where crime could happen..

        • SOMERSET OG says:

          That’s the point. More visual.

          • GPS says:

Maxi Mart is a known Problem area….youth that live in the area are scared to even go to shop at Maxi Mart…running back to their houses right afer buying some milk….

            • Sharon says:

I still don’t know why there are no security cameras outside that shop! The ownwer should want this sort of thing to stop!

              • lissa says:

I agree, I worked at the maximart parttime and refused to go back because some of the youth and young men in that area have little or no respect and or are heavy drug users, coming into the store stealing what they want and talking to you how they please. Standing at the cash counter and nodding out. They had an attempted robbery at about 10pm one night and I refused to work there after that. The store itself at the time (last year) had absolutely no security and at the first sogn of trouble the manager would disaapear to the donwstairs store room (can’t say that i blamed him). The young boys standing roadside to the entrance of the field where frisked daily by the police, however I came to learn the boys at the roadside serves as lookouts and runners so they never have the drugs on them. The police do what they can. Sorry bernews if this is too much info, but it is my opnion and what i have witness..

  5. Terry says:

  7. Mwalimu says:

First of all, the escalation of thefts have everything to do with these addicts supporting their drug habits, by trading in the stolen goods for drugs.

Second, the police know this is what’s happening.
Third, the politicians who have been voted in by the people to handle the people’s business (from Gov’t to the opposition parties), are ignorant to, or just ignoring the facts.

Fourth, the people of this little bitty island, the size of a small town are more worried about money, material wealth, partying, etc. etc. etc., that in their selfishness they are not seeing the big picture, that this is going to escalate further unless WE the citizens, police, politicians, businesses, etc. Come together and do something about the social ills that are taking over our country, and affecting our way of life.

Fifth, when the employment and economical situation deteriorates further, then the functioning addicts (the ones who have a job) will start to join in this phenomenon, that is them getting their high on by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Truth!!
