June 9, 2011

International Sailing Federation featured a video interview with Bermuda’s Alex Jones who has been windsurfing competitively in the Men’s RS:X for two years.

Mr Jones is bidding to reach the London 2012 Olympics. Now, 28, and back on the board, Mr Jones is a beneficiary of the Perth 2011 Emerging Nations Programme, which was conceived to support and assist developing ISAF Member National Authorities in their bid to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition.

“The ENP was a fantastic opportunity for me as I learnt Perth as a home port,” said Mr Jones. “I’ve spent my life sailing in Bermuda which offers one set of conditions. It was totally different to sail in Perth with the famous sea breeze that behaves in a different way to the wind I was used to.”
