Forum To Discuss Disability Discrimination Law

November 18, 2011

Minister of Youth, Families and Sports Glenn A Blakeney invites the public to attend a forum to discuss what Bermuda’s 2011 Unreasonable Hardship legislation means for the island’s employers and employees.

The forum organised by The Human Rights Commission [HRC], will be held on Wednesday, 23 November from 12.30-1.30pm at Cathedral Hall, Hamilton.

The Human Rights [Unreasonable Hardship] Amendment Act 2011 seeks to provide protection to persons with disabilities against discrimination when applying for employment or once employed.

Representatives from the HRC and the National Office for Seniors and the Physically Challenged will be in attendance along with guest speaker Rick Williams, a leading UK disability rights advocate, to discuss the responsibilities and opportunities employers and employees have in creating a more inclusive workplace.

For more information on this event, free to the public, please contact the Human Rights Commission at 295-5859.
