Bermuda CultureFest “Unity in the Community”

May 18, 2012

In its continuing commitment to bring the entire country together through music, culture and the arts, Spanish Town Entertainment is producing the Bermuda CultureFest, “Unity in the Community,” sponsored by the Department of Tourism with endorsements from His Excellency the Governor, the Premier and the Leader of the Opposition.

CultureFest also enjoys strategic alliances with WEDCO, The Department of Community & Cultural Affairs, The Ministry of Public Safety, The Corporation of Hamilton, the Corporation of St. George’s, Mirrors, New Beginnings, Global Arts Entertainment, The Royal Gazette, Youth News, and several other corporate, community, non-profit, and religious organizations.

A spokesperson said, “CultureFest is a free family event that will take place in Dockyard over the National Heroes Day Weekend, on June 17th & 18th, 2012, so please save the date. It was first established in the 1970s in celebration of the diversity of cultures residing in Bermuda, grew into a national event in 1995, and was replaced by the Jazz Festival in 1997.

“The return of the Bermuda CultureFest to the national stage will enable the gathering of a broad cross-section of social interest groups to collaborate in a unified approach to problem solving and value creation.

“Bermuda has become a melting pot of residents from all corners of the earth, each of whom plays a vital role in making this island the success it has become today. CultureFest can help to broaden this legacy by providing all residents with the opportunity to showcase their cultural traditions in a way that raises awareness, increases understanding, builds new relationships and improves those we currently share.

“CultureFest is a uniquely Bermudian event that is designed “for the people, by the people,” and, as a result, we invite vendors, exhibitors, artists, musicians and educators to get involved. Please contact us with questions and if you know of any cultural groups or individuals who may be interested in participating in the cultural entertainment segment, the visual art exhibit, or the international food court, they may forward their details to info@bermudaculturefest.com or call us directly at 441.295.4917.”
