Meet 2012 Miss Smiths: Dwanae Simons

June 19, 2012

In the third of our series of contestant profiles, Bernews today spotlights Dwanae Simons who is representing Smiths Parish in the upcoming Miss Bermuda Pageant.

The former CedarBridge Academy honour student is presently employed at Wakefield Quin as an Office Assistant/Receptionist, and enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, attending church, dancing, and travelling.

She participated in Miss Teen Bermuda 2005, placing 3rd runner up and winning the Miss Congeniality portion, and also took part in the Hal Jackson Talented Teen competition.

Asked why she entered Miss Bermuda, she said, “I entered Miss Bermuda because I know I have what it takes to be an Ambassador for my country, and I would like to be a role model for all young ladies of Bermuda as well as young girls growing up that aspire to be a part of something like this.”

Asked what she has enjoyed about the experience so far, said, “I have enjoyed every single bit of this experience so far. To me, every day of my life is an experience.

“From meeting new young ladies with similar aspirations as me, to being able to apply different techniques that I’ve learned in practice to my everyday life is an incredible feeling and I’m thankful for it.”

When asked whether she was nervous or excited about getting onstage for the pageant, Miss Simons said, “I am excited for the most part to get on stage. I’m just ready to go out there and have fun, and also make the night a memorable one.”

The 2012 Miss Bermuda Pageant is scheduled to take place Sunday July 8th, at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel where reigning queen Jana Outerbridge will crown her successor. Tickets are on sale now here on bdatix.bm, with ticket prices of $65 for General Admission [level 3], $85 for Gold [level 2] and $105 for Patron [level 1]. View all our Miss Bermuda coverage here.

Her first headshot doesn’t do her justice…she really is a very pretty young lady…not saying that she doesn’t look pretty in the headshot-just not as pretty as in the video. I’d say that she’s definitely winner material-I hope we have judges with good eyesight who’ll get a good look at her ’cause sometimes I just don’t know…
