Nahki Wells Scores Twice In Eight Minutes

September 25, 2012

Bradford City booked their place in the Capital One Cup Fourth Round with a sensational come-from-behind victory that saw Bermuda’s Nahki Wells fire in two goals with only 8 minutes left in the game to force extra-time.

The 22-year-old striker was recently sidelined with a hip injury and came off the bench in the 61st minute with Bradford trailing 2-0. He scored his first goal in the 83rd minute and his second goal in the very last minute of regulation time.

During extra-time, Stephen Darby scored the third goal for Bradford giving them the 3-2 victory over Burton Albion. Over 4,000 fans attended the match, which took place today [Sept 25] at the Coral Windows Stadium in West Yorkshire, England.

Update: The tweet below was sent to us from a Bradford fan in the UK:

Update #2: The videos of both goals have surfaced, you can watch them here.

  1. Family Man says:

Way to go. That’s going to be worth a few bucks at contract renewal and it’ll be a great story for the kids in years to come.

    • eye on you says:

This is what happens when one applies themselves. Good job. I never met you but I am happy for you and your family.

  2. good job says:

A young Bermudian athlete representing his country well, hopefully he continues to keep his head down and work hard. He definitely made the right decision to skip the caribbean cup qualifiers to concentrate on his club career. Just wondering, how many goals has he scored for Bradford? Seems like he scores frequently.

    • Bernews says:

He definitely does score frequently. Last season, his first as a pro, he scored 12 goals which was the second highest for the team. This season just kicked off and he was sidelined for a couple of games due to injury, but he has three goals before these two, and he also scored a few times in pre-season games.

  3. Grizz says:

I don’t know this young man at all but I’m extremely proud of him. Well done Nahki, keep up the good work. You have a new fan!!

    • freda bartley says:

I second your comment. I also don’t know this young man personally. But it goes to show we definitely have some great local talent on our little island , who go on to do big, positive things , in a huge arena like English Football. His parents should be very proud of him, I know I am , and I pray Bermuda stands behind & supports their own home grown heroes.
      Well done Nahki !!

  4. Positive says:

Keep it up Nahki, represent. Maybe George Dyer should taken a page from your book. Congrats

  5. somuchmore says:

Well done Nahki, keep spreading the Onion Juice!! I see a bright future ahead for you. Blessings

    • Come Correct says:

I agree, maybe one day we’ll have the pleasure of signing him on to United :p. For now he needs to stay where he is, he has a good thing going with Bradford, he’s making a good name and they will give him the game time he needs to excel to greatness. Be patient, even if Barcelona wants to sign you, you don’t want to compete with the likes of Messi for a position on the field until you’re ready. Stay patient, stay focused, and work hard, you have a bright future ahead, and if it means anything, my boy slayed me in Fifa 2012 with you lol.
