  1. Doug Shirley says:

So, The Landlord Tenant Act gets mention again does it? revisions to this act were ready for HOA approval almost three years ago. They have been many many more years ‘in revision’ through the various Governement departments in endless meetings, but not likely any communication with landlords, and here we are with more delay and talk.

Landlords are fed up with Government. There is no incentive for landlords to increase the housing stock in rent controlled property. No fairness in the system. No court support for even laws as they stand. No hope of collecting rental arrears. No hope of getting reimbursed for damage done to their property. No hope of being reimbursed for legal expenses incurred by tenants.

We have a Government running scared of what needs to be done. The situation as it stands will continue until there is a Government with a backbone and a real desire for fairness to make the changes long overdue.

In the meantime listen to the can being kicked down the road some more. More apts sitting empty. More apts converting to AirBnB. More complaining about a lack of availabiity.

This is what was voted for, and will be voted for again not long after October.
